I’m a good Reeser. I’m very good. So good that I won’t let you see that I’m not good. At least I don’t feel like it right now. But, we won’t talk about that today. We won’t talk about Reeser’s not-goodness. We won’t talk about Reeser getting angry. We can’t. I have good reasons why. I know you’re reading this, see? And I know you exist because that is the way things are. Maybe you’ll skim this or maybe you’ll read it the whole way through. The point is that you’re reading. You exist and you are reading. You’re reading my words. You exist, sitting there, reading my words. And… unless you have a private blog, I can do likewise. I can exist. I’m doing it right now. Effortlessly, in fact. I exist and if I find you, and you have words posted, I can read them. I can exist and read your words. Unless you have your blog set to private, don’t think I can’t. It’s not a threat, it’s just the way things are. You are my audience right now, and if you let me, I can be your audience. I think it’s good for us to be aware of each other. It’s good for us to realize that we are not speaking into a void. I hope you don’t think you are. Why would you want to? It’s pointless. Don’t tell me you speak to a void, because I won’t believe it. Unless you set to private. Then maybe you do. Maybe you speak to a void then. Maybe you write for yourself. If you don’t block us out though, then we are here, reading your words. Yes, I say “we”. There are more where I come from. Isn’t that a crazy thought? More of us. It’s crazy for me to think about it. There’s you… and there are others. I know some of you, but I might not know everyone. I’m certain that I don’t. I’m certain you don’t know all of us either. The main point is this: we are all here, reading one another’s words. We are all able to access these words—unless set to private—and we can see what they say. They might say things about others. Bad things. Good things. They might say things about situations or subjects. Again, bad and good. But guess what? Even when you don’t write about you, the things you write speak volumes about you. Are you saying lots of bad things? Do you say good things? Are you funny or thoughtful? Do you build up or do you just keep tearing down? No matter what you say, we can see it, just like you can see what I say. Our words are out there, speaking to others about the things we think about. Our words are out there, speaking to others… about us. They’re speaking about the writers as much as the topics. I am a writer. You are reading my words. If I find you and the words you posted, then I can do likewise. We are each another’s audience. Me. You. Them. All of us together.
I think it’s good for us to be aware of each other.
