Okay, this will be another post wherein I talk about classes. But, before that…
The Before We Forget concert was awesome. I think I hurt my ears though. They were ringing for a long time after the show, and today they’ve felt muffled and funny.
It was a good show though and I’m glad we went. I also am hopeful for our next WXCU concert, but I’ll get to that…
Boring stuff first.
I was a week behind in the reading for the class, but, much to my pleasure, our prof bumped everything back a week. That means that as long as I get through half of the chapter on basic sentence patterns, I’ll be okay for class tomorrow. Yay.
I was a little miffed in class. Wednesday our prof asked us to briefly write out two of the similarities between Dr. Frankenstein and Goethe’s character, Faust. Well, because of Brit Survey II and Renaissance Lit, I already knew the stories without reading the selections for my humanities class. I was good and read the selections anyway, but when he asked us to write those little bits to turn in, it really didn’t take me but a minute. Then he was looking around the room and said that he could tell who hadn’t done the reading based on who wasn’t writing very much… yeah right!
I was annoyed and overdid it a little bit by asking and contributing too many times in that class. You don’t know what I did or didn’t read based on how long it takes me to write the answer down. Grr…
I am kind of annoyed with myself. I should have proofread my story before turning it in. I read over it after class Thurs. and realized that there were a few errors and that I had accidentally taken out the formatting… which meant that there were no italics where there should have been. Oops.
We don’t read my story until the 7th, and I forget if I said that already, but there it is.
Chris read my story yesterday before the concert and he said that the girl in the story was a tramp. I laughed quite a bit at that. I hope none of my classmates says that in class because I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep from laughing and giving myself away as the author.
The two stories I read for Tuesday were okay. I liked the one called “A Winning Hand” better than the other one. It was about someone who was trying to decide whether he was going to help others or continue in his apathy.
I missed Tuesday and tomorrow I need to do the Tuesday assignment and turn it in. Gah.
I also learned from a British video that “the sun is blue”. They really meant that the colour of sunlight is blue on video tape… but the phrase “the sun is blue” is what really stuck with me.

Not much to say so far.
Okay, I have some good things and many frustrations. My mom listens to my show and she says that my announcing sounds like I’m trying to sell “oxy-clean”. If you’ve seen those irritating commercials, I’m sure you know what the guy sounds like. I hope I don’t sound like that… I know I don’t literally, but I don’t want to have that impression on people either. You should listen and let me know if I do.
I’m also frustrated because people aren’t coming in for their shifts. Emily called me before my shift and asked me if I’d ever seen the guy before me leaving from his shift. I said that I hadn’t… and she thinks he just isn’t coming. Personally, I agree. He probably isn’t. A number of people aren’t. I was loading music yesterday and the guy who has the 1-3pm shift never showed up. I was kind of ticked off.
I was also annoyed because of that CD that the computer won’t recognize. Garrrrrgh!!!
On the other hand, I am pleased that Patrick seemed interested in talking to the guys in Before We Forget. I’d asked them last spring if they would be interested in doing a show at the university, but those conversations never really went anywhere. I talked to one of the band members Friday and yesterday about it and they still seem interested in doing a show there… so as long as I can get them and Pat in touch with each other, they might actually come and play for us. That would be awesome.
Stage manager is still… doing stuff and getting people organized. Hope they figure things out soon. I want to work on the play…
I’m getting stuff together for an internship… hope they pick me? I meet with Dr Baggerman tomorrow to discuss what I need to do on Capital’s end. Hopefully he will agree to be a reference for me. That would be very useful.
Okay, Jeff who I met in Cultural Pluralism last spring… he and I talked a few days ago about the possibility of me joining his bible study since my church put the young adult program on a vacation. He has yet to get me the information on where and when I need to meet them… but maybe I will hear from him this week. If I don’t get a message from him by tomorrow night I think I’ll shoot him an email to make sure he didn’t forget about me.
Reeser: The postal service? They lose my letters sometimes… it annoys me and all my Tennessee/Maryland/California friends.
David H: LOL
Reeser: It’s true!
David: Ya I bet the United States Postal Service ain’t that good… but the Ben Gibbard Postal service IS!
